ABOUT US

AMNI stands as an autonomous and non-profit policy research and analysis institute with its headquarters situated in Garowe, Puntland, Somalia. AMNI is legally incorporated in 2019.
The organization is managed under an Articles of Incorporation, which state its non-profit organizational structure. An Executive Director manages the Centre whose activities are informed and guided by the organization’s Purpose and Principles and a Board of Directors. As an interdisciplinary research center, AMNI is dedicated to delving into cultural, political, economic, ideological, and security realms. The institute’s inception was spurred by a keen awareness of the imperative to amplify the voices of Somalia’s academia and civil society.

AMNI was born out of a recognition that sharing these perspectives is paramount to formulating comprehensive solutions for the multifaceted challenges impeding Somalia’s recovery journey. At its core, the institute is committed to advancing gender perspectives, ensuring their seamless integration into the fabric of research analysis. In doing so, AMNI seeks not only to illuminate critical insights but also to contribute meaningfully to the holistic advancement of Somalia’s societal and developmental landscape.

AMNI has conducted extensive research on Putnland from 2024 up to date and has conducted trainings and courses on capacity building for local civil society organizations, to increase their organizational capacity knowledge of FGM in Putnland.
We deliver specialist FGM training to a diverse range of frontline professionals in Social health workers, voluntary, media, local CSOs and community. We base our capacity building on our research; by developing and distribute advocacy materials, training tools and curricula to the local organizations and using to bring effective change at a community level.
